Finca

Las Cuchillas

ORIGIN: Finca Las Cuchillas, IG San Pablo, Tunuyán, Valle de Uco, Mendoza

ALTITUDE: 1400 m | 4593 ft

VARIETY: 100% Chardonnay

Due to its altitude and proximity to the mountains, San Pablo (especially where Finca Las Cuchillas is located) is one of the coldest places in the Uco Valley. This condition prevented the area from developing vineyards until not so many years ago, as it had a pastoral livestock history that we know in Mendoza as "invernada" (winter grazing).

Our arrival at Finca Las Cuchillas was motivated by the search for that cold climate and its calcareous soils, with a focus on producing white wines and different styles of red wines.

The vineyard´s name refers to the mountain ridges that run from west to east in that area, known as "cuchillas" (blades). I like to think that our vineyard is a balcony to observe these typical features of this mountainous region.

Finca Las Cuchillas was planted starting in 2013, specifically in San Pablo Estancia at an altitude of 1400 meters (4593 ft) above sea level.

It is a place with a cold climate, frequent and severe frosts, which always presents a great challenge. Its soils are alluvial with a high concentration of stones, mostly granite, covered by a thick layer of calcareous material that defines the structure and texture of the wines. It is a place with late budbreak and slow ripening, one of the key factors for this wine.

This 100% Chardonnay is an authentic mountain wine. It is fresh, sharp, and clearly expresses the austerity and severity of the region.

Finca

Los Membrillos Semillon

ORIGIN: Finca Los Membrillos, IG Paraje Altamira, San Carlos, Valle de Uco, Mendoza

ALTITUDE: 1060 m | 3478 ft

VARIETY: 100% Semillon

More than 20 years ago, a family of winegrowers from La Consulta planted this vineyard, which reached our hands in 2008.

There was an indelible stamp on it, which made it resemble the oldest vineyards in the area. Its traditional furrow irrigation system, its carob wood posts and its rows of quince trees surrounding the vineyard are its hallmarks, and at the same time a tribute to the rich winemaking legacy of the region.

We wanted to honor this history of the area, the soils and climate of Finca Los Membrillos, so we were drawn to plant our first Semillon vines in Paraje Altamira.

A variety that means so much to our country and our history. It is the variety that the white wines of the Uco Valley have traditionally been made.
It is a very unique variety that deserves a unique vineyard.

Finca

Canal Uco

ORIGIN: Finca Canal Uco, IG Paraje Altamira, San Carlos, Valle de Uco, Mendoza

ALTITUDE: 1100 m | 3906 ft

VARIETY: 100% Malbec

The Tunuyán River irrigates most of the vineyards in Mendoza, and the Canal Uco is the first canal that draws water from it. It connects to the river on its right bank, a few kilometers from where the river departs from the Andes. It has been the vital pulse of irrigation in the southern part of the Uco Valley for decades. The first lands historically irrigated by its waters were those of the northern part of Paraje Altamira.

On those lands, once cultivated with apple trees, we planted our first vineyard in this village.

This was the vineyard where we discovered Paraje Altamira, and it was the beginning of a journey of knowledge and learning, in which we transformed instinct into experience.

Interpreting the identity of Paraje Altamira through wine involves understanding its temperate climate and its stony and calcareous soils.

This “Finca” wine comes from a selection of different sectors of the vineyard planted with Malbec, where the stones appear at 80 centimeters below the sand and silt soil, and reflect the identity of the area with transparency.

Finca

Piedra Infinita

ORIGIN: Finca Piedra Infinita, IG Paraje Altamira, San Carlos, Valle de Uco, Mendoza

ALTITUDE: 1100 m | 3906 ft

VARIETY: 100% Malbec

This vineyard is an extraordinary place, with an even more impressive landscape. No one had put his hands to work on these lands before. The producers of Paraje Altamira drew the border where the stone allowed them. They used to cultivate on the flattest and less stony areas, close to the town of La Consulta, because moving south and west meant venturing into the heart of the highest part of the alluvial fan of the Tunuyán River. It meant fighting against the stone.

We arrived there through intuition, driven by the landscape. And we faced that struggle with energy, but also with the humility of knowing that we were facing something infinite.

We had to move more than a thousand trucks filled with stones, to make room for the vines.

It was the first step on a challenging path. Because cultivating this vineyard involves studying, working, knowing each row, each stone. Tirelessly exploring its immense diversity to be able to interpret it through the wine.

These Finca wines come exclusively from our family´s estate vineyards.

Finca Piedra Infinita is a Malbec, made from a careful selection of plots that grow on the shallower soils, so abundant in this vineyard. It is a true mountain wine.

Finca

Las Cerrilladas

ORIGIN: Finca Las Cerrilladas, Gualtallary, Tupungato, Valle de Uco, Mendoza

ALTITUDE: 1360 m | 4462 ft

VARIETY: 100% Malbec

This vineyard is planted at an altitude of 1360 meters | 4462 feet, at the foot of the Jaboncillo hills, called cerrilladas, in the paraje of Gualtallary that we know as "Monasterio." It is the result of our search for synthesis between the vineyard and the landscape. Surrounded by native vegetation of the area, the vineyard respects the richness of the topography and soil types of this place, where caliche and gravel covered in calcareous material abound, amongst an authentic mountain desert climate.

We have divided the vineyard into 30 parcels with different types of soils, aspects and sun exposure, and distinct methods of cultivation. Each lot was vinified separately, to then develop the wine through a blend that best represents the identity of this vineyard.

This Finca wine is 100% Malbec with a great sense of place.

Finca

Los Membrillos Cabernet Sauvignon

ORIGIN: Finca Los Membrillos, IG Paraje Altamira, San Carlos, Valle de Uco, Mendoza

ALTITUDE: 1060 m | 3478 ft

VARIETY: 100% Cabernet Sauvignon

More than 20 years ago, a family of winegrowers from La Consulta planted this Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard, which reached our hands in 2008. There was an indelible stamp on it, which made it resemble the oldest vineyards in the area.

Its traditional furrow irrigation system, its carob wood posts and its rows of quince trees surrounding the vineyard, are its hallmarks, and at the same time a tribute to the rich winemaking legacy of the region.

When we started working on it, we set ourselves the task of recovering its soils and the vigor of its vines, with love and care, seeking that the vineyard could express all the potential of the place where it grew.

Los Membrillos vineyard is located on the eastern limit of Paraje Altamira, at 1060 meters above sea level, and shares the particular characteristics of the soils of this area – diverse, stony and calcareous.
