This gastronomic event by Zuccardi Valle de Uco, which brings together the most prominent expressions of Latin American cuisine, had a particularly noteworthy gathering on Friday, July 7th, with the participation of Gabriel Oggero from Crizia (Buenos Aires), Mitsuharu 'Micha' Tsumura from Maido (Lima, Peru), and Sebastián Zuccardi.
Gabriel Oggero, with his classic style of combining signature cuisine with design, meticulousness, and creativity devoted to the utmost expression of seasonal products, joined forces with "Micha" Tsumura, one of the greatest leaders of Peruvian cuisine worldwide, to offer an exclusive and complete menu of shared courses, each bearing the hallmarks of their respective restaurants. Each dish was carefully paired with wines selected by Sebastián Zuccardi, including Zuccardi Blanc de Blancs 2021, Fósil 2021, Botánico 2021, Concreto 2021, Aluvional Gualtallary 2018, Finca Piedra Infinita 2019, Finca Las Cerrilladas 2019, and Malamado Vintage 2018.
"It's a beautiful moment for Latin America, for the entire continent, and it's time to seize it and show the world what we are capable of." – Micha Tsumura
Sebastián Zuccardi, host of the gathering, emphasized, "It's a joy to have two friends and leaders in our home, Micha and Gabriel, and celebrate our shared love for our place and our culture."
Reflecting on his fourth visit to Mendoza, Micha remarked: "Mendoza is not only a land where wine is made, it's a land of innovation. Where much riskier things are made – generating new sensations and breaking the mold of what wine is in the world, as we see happening with their cuisine today. Coming here is a source of inspiration."
This grand gathering of regional cuisine and wines took place at the Piedra Infinita Cocina restaurant of Zuccardi Valle de Uco, the winery awarded as the World´s Best Vineyard in 2019, 2020 and 2021, and incorporated into the competition´s Hall of Fame in 2022.
For 19 years, Gabriel has been the chef-owner of Crizia restaurant, located in the Palermo neighborhood of Buenos Aires. His cuisine is the result of a search that encompasses all of Argentina and highlights the work of small producers with a clear focus on artisanal fishing, particularly emphasizing Patagonian oysters, a product of which he is widely renowned. The first event in the series was held at Crizia, "and now we are replicating it in the Uco Valley, an event where we seek to unite our culture and passion for Latin America through our products, wines, and people," shared Gabriel.
Micha, leads Maido restaurant, a result of his passion for Nikkei cuisine, which is inspired by his home country, its landscapes, ingredients, and ingenuity, drawing from his childhood memories and new experiences. Maido has just been ranked sixth on The World's 50 Best Restaurants 2023 list and holds the third position on the Latin America's 50 Best Restaurants list.
