Laura Principiano Named Young Winemaker of the Year by Tim Atkin MW

We are delighted to share that Laura Principiano, Head Winemaker of Zuccardi Valle de Uco, has been named Young Winemaker of the Year by renowned wine critic Tim Atkin MW in his 2026 Argentina Special Report.

For us, this recognition celebrates much more than an individual achievement. It reflects years of collective work dedicated to understanding the unique places that make up the Uco Valley and cultivating wines that express their identity with precision and transparency.

In announcing the award, Tim Atkin highlighted Laura's role in the evolution of Zuccardi Valle de Uco and in shaping a project that has become a leader in Argentine wine:

"Laura was part of the team behind the construction of this remarkable winery and has been Head Winemaker since 2014. The winery is an inspiration to winemakers around the world. They work with Albariño, Verdejo, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay, while making some of the best Malbecs in Argentina and exceptional Cabernet Francs."

Laura joined our Research & Development team in 2009 and has been part of the Zuccardi Valle de Uco journey ever since. Her work has been instrumental in deepening our understanding of the Uco Valley's diverse soils and landscapes, helping define the philosophy that guides both our viticulture and our winemaking. She also played a key role in the conception and development of our winery in Paraje Altamira, designed to accompany the diversity of the places where we cultivate.

Since the 2014 harvest, Laura has led our Winemaking and Research & Development teams, working alongside Sebastián Zuccardi and the entire technical team to continue exploring the extraordinary diversity of the Uco Valley. Together, they share the conviction that every wine should be a faithful expression of the place from which it comes.

Reflecting on the recognition, Laura shared:

"Looking back, I realize how much has changed over these years making wine. My perspective has changed, my understanding has changed, and my experience has changed. But what has never changed is my enthusiasm and love for this profession. And there is something else that has remained constant: the people who have shared this journey with me. This recognition belongs to them as well—to my family, my colleagues, and the entire team that works every day with dedication and passion."

For Sebastián Zuccardi, the award is also a recognition of a way of working built collectively:

"Laura has been fundamental to the development of our project in the Uco Valley. Her curiosity, sensibility and leadership have helped deepen our understanding of place, design a winery conceived to accompany the diversity of the valley, and make wines with a true sense of place."

Congratulations, Laura. We are proud to celebrate this well-deserved recognition and grateful to everyone who has been part of this shared journey.
