The 100 point vineyard

A wine from Finca Piedra Infinita just got 100 Parker Points again! This time, it was the Gravascal 2021 that hit the jackpot. Believe it or not, this is the seventh time a wine from this specific vineyard has gotten a perfect score from international wine experts.

Finca Piedra Infinita Gravascal 2021

The Gravascal 2021 is all about capturing the true spirit of Finca Piedra Infinita. This place is located in Paraje Altamira, way up high at 1100 meters above sea level. The grapes for this wine comes from a tiny, special spot, only 0.73 hectares, on the northeast side of the vineyard. What makes this spot unique is the ground – about 50 centimeters down, you hit big rocks and granite stones covered in a chalky material, which is pretty typical for Paraje Altamira.

In his report for Robert Parker Wine Advocate in 2025, Matthew Luczy had some great things to say about the Piedra Infinita Gravascal 2021. He mentioned the smells are "deeper and more lifted" than other wines from the area, coming across as super herbal, floral, and incredibly complex. When you taste it, he said it feels light yet focused, with a clear minerally taste and a long, balanced finish. He's really excited to see how this wine ages, expecting it to get even better for at least another twenty years.

Sebastián Zuccardi, the Winemaking Director, likes to think of these wines as coming from a "place that speaks for itself." He said, "Those of us who work in this vineyard day in and day out know it has special spots with unique quirks. That's definitely the case for the plot where Gravascal comes from. It faces the mountains, sits within the area shaped by the Tunuyán River's flow, and is known for its really stony ground with a cool mix of granite and calcium carbonate."

Thinking back to the 2021 harvest, Sebastián remembered it being a fantastic year, cool and a bit wet. He explained that the grape bunches had plenty of time to ripen perfectly, hitting that sweet spot with just the right sugar and acidity, and great structure in the tannins. He added, "because we're super careful about picking grapes from different plots and soil types at just the right moment, we were able to really show off the amazing variety you find in the Uco Valley."

Besides the Finca Piedra Infinita Gravascal 2021 getting that perfect 100, some other Zuccardi Valle de Uco wines also got awesome scores:

Thee Robert Parker rating system used by The Wine Advocate (TWA) scores wines on a scale from 50 to 100 points. The score is based on how well the wine shows the quality and typical style of where it's from. A perfect 100 points means the wine is absolutely amazing. These "Parker Points" started in 1978 and are a big deal for wine lovers, especially in the United States. Matthew Luczy is one of the tasters for TWA and is the one who rates wines from South America.
